公司兩大部門的鬥爭，情況如下：

 

" The department heas met last week and discussed many issues, including the sales targets for this month, but the Human Resources Head ‘gained the upper hand'.”

 

所謂 ‘gained the upper hand' , 其實就是指成功地控制另一方，所厶聽到某人或某機構‘gained the upper hand'，亦即是佔上風的意思。
Gain 一字亦可以以 get 代替。

這句說話亦可以描述在討論中或會議中反對某方，意思來自當你要以手擊倒一方，便先要舉高雙手才能有效進行攻擊。
